Allāhu akbar
Allah is the Greatest.
Subḥānalladhī sakhkhara lanā hādhā
Glory be to the One who has placed this at our service,
wa mā kunnā lahu muqrinīn
and we could never have done it by ourselves.
wa innā ilā rabbinā lamunqalibūn
And to our Lord we will surely return.
Allāhumma innā nasʾaluka fī safarinā hādhal-birra wat-taqwā
O Allah, we ask You on this journey of ours for righteousness and piety,
wa minal-ʿamali mā tarḍā
and for deeds that please You.
Allāhumma hawwin ʿalaynā safaranā hādhā waṭwi ʿannā buʿdah
O Allah, make this journey easy for us and shorten its distance for us.
Allāhumma antaṣ-ṣāḥibu fis-safari wal-khalīfatu fil-ahl
O Allah, You are the Companion on the journey and the One who looks after the family.
Allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika min waʿthāʾis-safar
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardships of travel,
wa kaʾābatil-manẓar
from distressing sights,
wa sūʾil-munqalabi fil-māli wal-ahl
and from returning to find harm in my wealth or family.
On returning, add
Āʾibūna tāʾibūna ʿābidūna li-rabbinā ḥāmidūn
We return, repenting, worshipping and praising our Lord.
